Chaplain Thomas McDorr

Wesley Seminary has equipped me with the tools to succeed in hospital chaplaincy. When I was deciding on a seminary to attend, I needed one that would allow me to stay in my ministry context and give me the practical education that I could immediately implement in the hospital. My education at Wesley has enhanced the ministry I do with my patients and team members. The integration of practical theology with a clinical understanding has helped prepare me for ministry in the hospital, and since COVID-19 happened, doing ministry in new ways.

COVID-19 is a new reality, and Wesley has been quick to adapt, to make sure that their students feel supported and equipped to do God’s work in this unprecedented time. The pandemic is not over, and as we move into flu season, there is a lot of uncertainty and fear. I and others like me have been on the front lines of the pandemic since March. I want to thank my many colleagues, professors, and faculty from Wesley. The phone calls, emails, and text messages have been encouraging and have given me strength. Thank you. Please continue to pray for and support your local healthcare workers. It is appreciated more than you know.
